Rodney's Story
In 1970, Rodney Barnett's life took a dramatic turn.
Before coming to faith in Christ, Rodney worked as a nightclub musician and lived a lifestyle far removed from the one he would later embrace. Under deep conviction of sin and a growing awareness of his need for God's forgiveness, Rodney surrendered his life to Jesus Christ.
The transformation was profound. He left behind a life that often involved dodging beer bottles and bullets in nightclub settings and began a new journey of serving the Lord. What God changed on the inside soon became evident on the outside. Rodney's priorities, purpose, and direction in life were forever altered.
For many years Rodney earned his living operating a Lance snack route, serving stores and businesses throughout Southeast Texas. But God had placed a greater calling on his heart. While delivering products during the week, he never lost his passion for delivering the message of Christ.
He went from selling snacks to telling the Good News.
Whether speaking one-on-one with a neighbor, ministering to a small gathering, preaching in churches, serving on mission fields, or addressing large crowds, Rodney's desire has remained the same: to tell people the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Street Wise to Urban Harvest
Urban Harvest Ministries began with a burden for the overlooked and forgotten. In the early years, Rodney and Vicki ministered to street kids in their inner-city neighborhood through a ministry known as Street Wise, Inc.
As they continued ministering to young people, God expanded the vision. In the 1990s, the ministry became known as Urban Harvest Ministries, Inc. The name reflected a growing mission field and a desire to reach people from all walks of life with the love of Jesus Christ.
A Journey in Missions
Over more than five decades of ministry, Rodney and Vicki have served not only throughout the United States but also internationally. Their ministry has taken them to Kenya, Russia, Mexico, Wales, and throughout the United States, where they have worked alongside local believers, churches, pastors, and ministry leaders to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and strengthen the body of Christ.
Today, Rodney serves as an evangelist, provides pulpit supply for local churches, and continues the ministry at The Living Room alongside Vicki.
